Nigerian Military Kills Top Commanders, Over 50 Terrorists in Lake Chad Airstrikes

More than 50 terrorists have been killed following coordinated air operations carried out by the Nigerian military under Operation Hadin Kai in the Lake Chad region.

The strikes also resulted in the elimination of several high-ranking terrorist commanders, marking a significant blow to insurgent networks operating in the North-East.

Security intelligence reports confirmed that the operation targeted fortified hideouts and logistics hubs used by the terrorists for planning and sustaining attacks.

According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the airstrikes were conducted on May 31 in the Kirta and Arina Ciki general areas, following credible intelligence on terrorist movement and activity.

Military sources said the operation focused on identified enclaves and supply bases, which were destroyed during precision bombardments.

Among those confirmed killed were Khalifa Umar, identified as a member of the terrorists’ Shura Council from Sigir, alongside field commanders Abdallah and Abduljalil.

Authorities said the loss of these key figures has significantly weakened the group’s operational structure and disrupted its command hierarchy.

In addition to personnel losses, several logistics facilities, storage depots, and support structures used by the terrorists were destroyed, further limiting their ability to sustain operations.

The Nigerian military said the operation is part of ongoing efforts to dismantle insurgent networks across the Lake Chad Basin and restore stability to affected communities in the North-East.
