Djokovic Exposes Zverev’s Biggest Weakness After Beijing Defeat
Novak Djokovic has once again shown why Alexander Zverev remains one of the biggest challenges on his path to Grand Slam glory. Despite entering their Beijing quarter-final in much stronger form, Zverev fell 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 to Djokovic.

Zverev arrived with a 54-12 record, a nine-match winning streak and hopes of strengthening his push for the world No. 1 ranking. Djokovic, meanwhile, had not won a title in 2026 and had struggled physically during earlier matches in Beijing.
The defeat highlighted a worrying pattern for Zverev. Djokovic leads their head-to-head 10-5 and has won three of their last four meetings, showing an ability to find crucial points even when he is not at his best.

With Zverev having already won two Grand Slam titles this season, the unresolved problem is now clear: he has become one of the most consistent players on tour, but Djokovic remains a particularly difficult opponent. Another meeting at a Grand Slam could therefore test whether Zverev can finally overcome that hurdle.
