Anne Carson Wins 2026 Nobel Prize in Literature
Canadian author and poet Anne Carson has won the 2026 Nobel Prize in Literature for her innovative body of work and creative engagement with classical tradition.

Born in Toronto in 1950, Carson has blended poetry, translation, fiction, essays and visual art throughout her career. Her notable works include Glass, Irony, and God, Autobiography of Red, The Beauty of the Husband and Nox.

The Swedish Academy praised Carson for creating new forms of contemporary literature through a “playful dialogue with the classical tradition.” Her collaborations with artists, choreographers and theatre and opera directors have also made her an influential figure in international literature and the arts.
