NORTH-EAST STATES RAISE N10.8BN FOR REGIONAL AIR SHUTTLE

The six North-East states have raised 10.8 billion naira as counterpart funding for the planned regional air shuttle.

North-East Governors’ Forum Chairman, Babagana Zulum, disclosed this during the forum’s 10th meeting in Maiduguri.

Zulum said the remaining contributions would be paid before the end of October to enable flight operations begin.

He urged Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba and Yobe states to work together for a smooth launch.

Zulum also highlighted renewed oil exploration at the Kolmani oilfield in Bauchi State, saying it could create jobs and increase revenue.

He welcomed a one-billion-dollar federal social protection project for North-East households affected by insurgency and displacement.
