“Just Take Me”: Pete Edochie Opens Up on Health Struggles [VIDEO]
Veteran Nollywood actor Pete Edochie has opened up about his recent health struggles, revealing that walking has become difficult for him and that he sometimes wakes up with parts of his body swollen.
The actor spoke about his condition while visiting a fellow actor, Emmanuel, who is reportedly ailing in Accra, Ghana, during Edochie’s legacy tour on Wednesday.
While offering words of encouragement to his colleague, Edochie also shared his own experience with health challenges, saying he was not in good health himself.
“Sitting down here, I’m not very well myself. I’m not. Walking is a problem for me now. I still have hope that I will recover,” he said.
The veteran actor explained that the swelling he experiences does not remain permanent, as affected parts of his body sometimes return to normal after some time.
“Sometimes I got up and discovered that some parts of my body were swollen and after some time, they go down again, just like my hand is swollen now,” he said.
Edochie, who has remained a prominent figure in Nigeria’s entertainment industry for decades, said he continues to hold on to the hope of recovering from his present condition.
However, he also spoke about his personal prayer concerning his eventual departure from life, saying he does not want his condition to become a burden on the people around him.
“I just keep asking God, you are the author of life. Whenever you feel it’s time for me to go, just take me. Don’t let me bother the people who are around me. No, just take me,” Edochie said.
The actor’s remarks came during his visit to Emmanuel, where he was offering support to his colleague while also reflecting on his own health.
Edochie has enjoyed a career spanning several decades and remains one of the best-known veteran actors associated with Nigeria’s film industry.
Known for his commanding presence and memorable roles, he has remained active in the entertainment space and continues to receive attention from fans across Nigeria and beyond.
Although Edochie spoke about difficulty walking and recurring swelling, he did not disclose a specific medical diagnosis during the conversation.
