This Is Slavery — US Missionary Challenges Adeboye Over Tinubu’s Evacuation Plan
A United States missionary, Alex Barbir, has criticised RCCG founder, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, over the church’s donation to support the evacuation of Nigerians from South Africa.
The Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, donated $265,854 towards the evacuation of 500 Nigerians who sought to return home following xenophobic attacks.
The Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed the donation and commended the church for supporting Nigerians facing difficult circumstances abroad.
According to the ministry, the funds will provide one-way air tickets for the affected Nigerians seeking to leave South Africa.
However, Barbir questioned the decision by the church to financially support an evacuation exercise being coordinated by the Federal Government under President Bola Tinubu.
The missionary also questioned the role of Christian leaders in supporting government interventions while Christians in parts of Nigeria continue to face attacks and insecurity.
“This is an act of slavery,” Barbir said while reacting to the donation.
The humanitarian worker has also spoken out against killings in Nigeria’s Middle Belt and criticised the government’s response to attacks on communities.
