ADC Ditches Coalition, Declares Readiness to Beat APC

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) says it can defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general election without a coalition.

ADC National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, disclosed this during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday.

Abdullahi said the party initially pursued a broad opposition alliance because it believed a united front would strengthen its challenge against President Bola Tinubu.

He explained that the political situation changed after Peter Obi and Rabi’u Kwankwaso moved to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

Despite this, Abdullahi said opposition parties remain engaged in discussions over areas where they can cooperate ahead of the 2027 election.

He stressed that the discussions are not primarily focused on producing a single presidential candidate for the opposition.

Instead, he said the parties are exploring practical areas of collaboration, including election monitoring and protecting votes during the electoral process.

“The ADC doesn’t need a coalition to win this 2027 election,” Abdullahi said.

He added that the G-100 mobilisation initiative was still working to bring opposition groups together ahead of the election.

According to him, the emphasis is now on identifying areas where opposition parties can cooperate effectively during the electoral process.
