History has always been a subtle reminder of what will become the very present we are proudly enjoying and the future we are arrogantly anticipating.

On this day in 1918, Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (BMW) became established as a public company in Germany.
Still on this day in 1960, the Central African Republic declared independence from France.
Again, on this day in 1964, Peter Allen and Gwynne Evans were hanged for the murder of John Alan West becoming the last people executed in the United Kingdom.
In 1967 on this day, two young women became the first fatal victims of grizzly bear attacks in the 57-year history of Montana’s Glacier National Park in separate incidents.
Exactly on this day in 2004, one hundred fifty-six Congolese Tutsi refugees were massacred at the Gatumba refugee camp in Burundi.
Today in history has it that today is International Lefthanders Day. For the records, International Left Handers Day is an international day observed annually on August 13 to celebrate the uniqueness and differences of left-handed individuals. The day was first observed in 1976 by Dean R. Campbell, founder of the Left-handers Club. This day was established to raise awareness about the challenges and experiences faced by left-handed individuals in a predominantly right-handed world.
Today is World Organ Donation Day. Again, organ donation is the process when a person authorizes an organ of their own to be removed and transplanted to another person, legally, either by consent while the donor is alive, through a legal authorization for deceased donation made prior to death, or for deceased donations through the authorization by the legal next of kin.
