US Airstrikes Enter Ninth Night as Iran Issues Fresh Oil Warning

The conflict between the United States and Iran showed no sign of easing on Sunday as American forces carried out a ninth consecutive night of airstrikes on Iranian targets.

At the same time, Tehran warned that continued military action by Washington could jeopardise the movement of oil and gas through the Strait of Hormuz, a vital shipping route for global energy supplies.

Iranian officials said the country’s position would depend on the actions of the United States, warning that sustained attacks could make the strategic waterway unsafe for commercial oil and gas traffic.

The Strait of Hormuz connects the Persian Gulf to the Gulf of Oman and serves as one of the world’s busiest energy corridors, handling about one-fifth of globally traded crude oil.

Although Iran has not formally announced the closure of the waterway, the latest warning has renewed concerns that an escalation in the conflict could disrupt global energy supplies and international trade.

The latest round of US strikes is believed to have targeted Iranian military infrastructure as Washington continues its campaign to weaken Tehran’s military capabilities.

American officials have maintained that the operations are intended to protect regional security and counter perceived threats from Iran.

The growing tensions have already unsettled global markets, with oil prices rising amid fears that any disruption along the Strait of Hormuz could affect fuel supplies and drive up energy costs worldwide.

Shipping companies are also keeping a close watch on developments as security concerns mount across the Gulf.

Several governments have called for restraint, warning that further escalation could have serious consequences for regional stability and the global economy.

Diplomatic efforts to ease the crisis have so far shown little progress, with both sides maintaining hardline positions.

As military exchanges continue, international attention remains fixed on the Strait of Hormuz, where any interruption to shipping could have far-reaching effects on oil markets and global commerce.
