Woman Killed During Church Service in Imo, Husband Escapes With Two Children
A church service in Imo State ended in tragedy on Sunday after a woman was allegedly killed within the church premises in Owelu, Owerri North Local Government Area.
According to reports, the woman’s husband arrived at the church while the service was in progress and allegedly attacked her before fleeing the scene with two of their three children. The couple’s third child, an infant said to be only a few months old, was left behind.
The motive behind the incident has not yet been established, and authorities say investigations are ongoing.
Confirming the development, the spokesperson for the Imo State Police Command, SP Henry Okoye, said officers from the Owerri North Divisional Police Headquarters promptly visited the scene after receiving the report.
He said the command has launched a manhunt for the suspect while efforts are also underway to locate and safely recover the two missing children.
Okoye appealed to members of the public with useful information that could lead to the suspect’s arrest or the rescue of the children to report to the Owerri North Divisional Police Headquarters or contact the command through its emergency lines.
The incident has left residents of the community in shock as police continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the attack.
