Iran Releases Footage of Damaged Khamenei Prayer Complex After February Strike
Iranian state media has released new footage showing the damage inside a prayer complex once used by former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The 50-second video, published on Wednesday through Khamenei’s official website and shared by pro-government outlets, shows piles of rubble, twisted steel beams, and heavily damaged sections of the building known as Imam Khomeini’s Husseiniyah, which is attached to the Supreme Leader’s official residence.
According to the report, the compound was destroyed during a joint US-Israeli military operation against Iran on February 28. The strike reportedly killed Khamenei. Although satellite images of the site were released shortly after the attack, this is the first time footage from inside the damaged complex has been made public. Khamenei was later succeeded as Iran’s Supreme Leader by his son, Mojtaba Khamenei.

Meanwhile, Khamenei’s funeral procession reached Iraq on Wednesday after beginning in Tehran last week. Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, and senior Shiite religious leaders welcomed the coffin at Najaf International Airport. The procession is expected to continue to the holy city of Karbala before returning to Iran for Khamenei’s burial in Mashhad.
