The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 19-year-old woman, identified as Aisha Musa, over an alleged attempt to poison her husband in Gwamma village, Bauchi Local Government Area.

The command said the incident happened on August 12, barely 40 days after the couple were married.
According to the police, Musa allegedly put a poisonous substance in her husband’s food, after which he became seriously ill and was taken to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital in Bauchi for treatment.
The victim is said to be in stable condition.
The police explained that officers were alerted through a distress call made by an unidentified woman. Following the alert, operatives were dispatched to the location, where the suspect was arrested.
During questioning, the police said Musa admitted to the allegation.
The command disclosed that an empty bottle believed to have contained the suspected poison and leftover food were recovered from the scene and kept as exhibits.
